FURNITURE THAT MAKES YOU FEEL INFORMED

Frequently Asked Questions:

You have questions, we have answers. Here are a few of the most common questions we get:

GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • When a tree or lumber is going to be thrown out or left to rot. Salvaging means we take something that would be discarded, and create something meaningful from it.

  • While we can’t guarantee against any and all possible damage in the years to come (we have occasionally destructive children ourselves) our products are intended to be repaired and refinished as needed over and past a lifetime of use.

  • While we can’t make every project work, if you have a budget in mind we will try our best to tailor our pieces to fit your budget. Contact us and let’s see what we can make together!

  • Our semi-custom tables have prices listed here.

A ballpark custom built-in project with shelves will normally start around $500 per linear foot.

Our larger tables generally sell around $200/sq foot.

  • Our ultra-low VOC conversion varnish resists damage from impact, liquids, and chemicals.

If you choose one of our high-character tables, we will leave some of the "character" exposed. This will mean there may be cracks or crevices that can collect crumbs or liquid. We recommend keeping food and drink off these pieces. Most other surfaces are fair game!

  • In the furniture world, stain gives color, finish protects the wood and stain. We generally try to use different species of wood to match our client’s preferences. We can choose from woods that naturally have the colors most people are looking for. Walnut stain is an attempt to match the colors of the walnut wood for example. This allows easier repairs to be made to wood in the years and decades to come.

If you would like to use stain, we will always topcoat it with several coats of an eco-friendly varnish.

  • Most of our pieces are finished (topcoated) with an eco-friendly high-grade conversion varnish (basically a fancy clear coat on top of the wood) or a high-grade acrylic pigmented coating/paint. It’s super durable and resistant to most commercial chemicals. Clean away!

  • We do our best to create pieces that are gentle on the environment and with future generations in mind. If you choose to purchase one of our pieces, enjoy it for years to come. Choosing heirloom future over fast furniture helps keep our landfills from overflowing and our planet a little greener.

CUSTOM FURNITURE/BUILT-IN QUESTIONS

  • Let us know what you're looking for and where you are in the process. It is helpful for us to know if you have any style or a look you would like your piece to reflect. If you have ballpark measurements for what you are looking for please let us know.

However, Many of our clients have a desire, but don’t know how to get there or even how to nail down exactly what it is - we usually do our best work with those types of starting points.

    Start the process here.

  • Most of our clients have a desire for something - maybe it’s a table that is the focal point of a large space, or someone who wants to have a sense of calm when they walk in the door. Whether you know what you want or not - we like to make that feeling a reality.

  • This is such a hard question to answer, every project is different and our build times vary. Most of our custom projects take a minimum of 6-8 weeks from when an order is placed to when it is ready for delivery.
